BNK 122 Trust Operations Course Objectives

After successfully completing this course, a student will be able to:

  1. Trace the historical development of banks and the trust business; analyze assets and forms of property ownership; and describe the organization of a trust institution
  2. Analyze future-fee and active-fee personal trust and agency business
  3. Compare investment vehicles; identify how securities are classified
  4. Describe how securities are traded, settled, and delivered
  5. Explain how an account is established, describe departmental record keeping
  6. Define and identify internal and external controls employed by trust institutions
  7. Contrast asset and liability transactions
  8. Describe cash management; identify cash transactions in the trust accounts; describe how collective fund accounting is accomplished
  9. Describe the various reports provided to customers.
