BNK 108 Law and Banking I: Principles Course Objectives

After successfully completing this course, a student will be able to:

  1. Explain the regulatory system by which regulations are made and banks are governed
  2. Identify the major laws that affect the business of banking today
  3. Describe the difference between a crime and a tort and list crimes and torts that affect banking today
  4. List the requirements for a contract and identify types of contracts into which a bank enters
  5. List the types of property ownership and how banks obtain an interest in a customer’s property
  6. List three types of bankruptcy filings and the purposes for each type.
