Student Activities
The primary mission of Student Activities at Lackawanna College is to offer a variety of events, programs and activities which:
- Complement the curriculum
- Enhance the overall quality of life within the College
- Expose as many people as possible to a variety of social and cultural programs.
While the academic aspect of student life is given major emphasis at Lackawanna College, there is no doubt that some of the most significant educational growth can and does occur outside the classroom.
Under the guidance of the Director of Student Activities, many clubs and organizations provide an assortment of activities in which any student may participate.

The Drama Club's November 2002 production of Rich and Famous by John Guare.
These include:
Student Government Association: This is the executive and legislative arm of the student body. SGA offers students opportunities for leadership and enhances communication skills through interaction with administrators and community organizers.
Diversity Club: This club’s mission is to foster acceptance, awareness and interaction between the various cultures on campus and in the community. Their outreach program ?The Color of Friendship? visits elementary schools and reads children’s books with a multi-cultural theme. This group meets every Thursday at 12:20 PM.
Communication Arts Club: This club sponsors performances and Talent Shows each semester. We’re always looking for actors, technical crew and stagehands. Check campus bulletin boards or our Events page for information.
Off the Vine: a student-run newspaper that publishes one issue per semester. We’re looking for talented writers, layout designers and typists to assist with this publication. Check campus bulletin boards for information.
Collage: The Literary Arts Magazine of Lackawanna College. We’re looking for talented writers, layout designers and typists to assist with this publication. Check campus bulletin boards for information.
Phi Beta Lambda: This National Business Honor Society participates in a variety of local, regional and national business-related competitions throughout the year.
Ski Club: This group meets at Montage Mountain Skiing Resort on Sundays from December through March, weather permitting. Lift tickets and ski rentals are offered to embers at substantially reduced rates.
Chess Club: The Chess Club is an informal organization whose members represent a variety of skill levels, from the beginner to the advanced player. Each semester matches are coordinated based upon scheduling compatibility and level of skill, and chess tournaments, for both advanced and beginner brackets, are held at the end of each semester. Students interested in learning to play chess are also invited to join.
