The Lackawanna College EMS Academy is an independent, authorized training site for the American Heart Association. The academy offers the programs that aspiring paramedics and emergency medical technicians need to be successful in the workforce. Our students learn the best practices in providing critical care to sick and injured patients and master the skills essential to coordinate and manage emergency medical systems.

The Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. Paramedics function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight, and perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance.

    Educational Requirements
Because of the amount of complex decision making, one of the eligibility requirements for licensure requires successful completion of a nationally accredited Paramedic program at the certificate or associate degree level.
