CE’s for Registered Nurses:
Beginning with the license period commencing on July 12, 2010, an applicant for renewal of a professional nursing license is required to complete 30 hours of continuing education approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
The following guidelines apply if your expiration date on your RN license is/will be:
- October 31, 2010 then you must obtain 30 hours of Board approved CE from 11/1/08 through 10/31/10
- April 30, 2011 obtain CE’s from 5/1/09 through 4/30/11
- October 21, 2011 obtain CE’s from 11/1/09 through 10/31/11
- April 30. 2012 obtain CE’s from 5/1/10 through 4/30/12
Registered Nurses must complete all 30 hours of continuing education in the time frame for your renewal period. When it comes time to renew your license, you will have to answer the renewal question “YES” or “NO” about completion of the required 30 hours CE.
To assist Registered Nurses with these new requirements for licensure, Lackawanna College is offering CEs which will satisfy professional and licensing requirements as per the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
All lectures will be relevant to patient care or professional nursing in a general or specialty area and will enhance the knowledge and application of the physical, social, biological and behavioral sciences.
Contact hours and a certificate of participation are awarded to nurses after completing a pre- and post-test exam. A course evaluation will be provided.
