    Lackawanna earns Employer of the Year Award from leading business women’s group

    SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College received the 2016-17 Employer of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Federation of Business and Professional Women’s (BPW/PA) Club during its state awards gala in Williamsport on June 10. The award is in recognition of the College’s employment, advancement, and recognition of women in the workplace.

    Fifty-five percent of Lackawanna College’s total current staff is comprised of women in a variety of roles, but women play a particularly prominent part in College leadership. All of Lackawanna’s academic division chairs, five of the eight members of the President’s Cabinet, and four of its five satellite center directors are women who are critical to the College’s expanding impact throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

    BPW/PA is a statewide organization of more than 1600 members in 75 local organizations and 12 districts throughout the state.  The organization is a leading advocate for working women in the commonwealth focused on all issues that touch women’s lives and careers.

    Lackawanna College is a private, accredited college serving the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. With its main campus situated in downtown Scranton, Lackawanna’s expanding footprint also includes satellite centers in Hawley, Hazleton, New Milford, Sunbury, and Towanda.
