Lackawanna College Unveils New Athletics Logo

Lackawanna College introduces the new athletics and esports logos, a stylized peregrine falcon with new red accents that pay homage to Lackawanna’s original charter.

SCRANTON, Pa.— Lackawanna College revealed today, Thursday, August 2, 2018, a new athletics logo and alternate esports color palette. The new logo will be implemented across future seasons, according to College officials.

“Our student athletes have always been proud to compete as Lackawanna College Falcons, and we know that they’ll continue to take flight under our new logo,” said Athletic Director and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Joya Whittington.

The new logo modernizes the former Falcon that fans had become familiar with over the last two decades. The primary athletics mark still features a profile of a stylized peregrine falcon, complete with the College’s long-recognized swooping head feathers. A secondary mark displays the Falcon in an intimidating pose with its wings and tail feathers fully extended.

The logo still features the College’s classic navy, white, and gray color palette. New red accents on the Falcon’s beak and eye pay homage to Lackawanna’s original charter.

The logos also feature an alternate color palette that exchanges gray for a bright blue. Lackawanna’s esports team will exclusively use that logo variation for its initial season in 2018-19.

The new athletics logo follows Lackawanna’s relaunch of its Falcons web site, lackawannafalcons.com, in August 2017.
