Lackawanna College Police Academy Graduates Class 238

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Police Academy honored the cadets of Class 238 from the Hazleton campus during a graduation ceremony on Friday.

In the tradition of the Lackawanna College Policy Academy, the class selected a fallen officer in whose memory they have dedicated their training, graduation, and service. Class 238 elected to honor Police Academy Director Maryann J. Grippo, Esq.

Police Academy Director Maryann J. Grippo, Esq., passed away on October 22, 2017. Director Grippo dedicated 30 years of her life to the law enforcement profession. She was a successful prosecuting attorney for the majority of her career where she fought for victims, prosecuted offenders and worked closely with police officers.

It is believed that the greatest impact she had on law enforcement was through her position as Police Academy Director at Lackawanna College.  Her efforts and actions will impact the future of law enforcement for generations to come.  Although Director Grippo didn’t wear the blue, she lived it.
