Lackawanna College appoints new trustees
SCRANTON, Pa. – Alex J. Hazzouri, Michael B. Kearney, and Attorney Julia K. Munley have been appointed as the newest members of the Lackawanna College Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees, comprised of valued members of the community, oversees the operations of the College.
Mr. Hazzouri is a human service executive with over 30 years professional experience. For most of his career, he has been and currently is the President/Chief Executive Officer of what is now the Advocacy Alliance. The Alliance provides services to individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities in 47 Pennsylvania counties and in New Jersey. In 2013, the Alliance joined with Friendship House which provides child welfare, mental health, and autism services to children and adolescents in Eastern Pennsylvania. He is now also President/Chief Executive Officer of Friendship House.
His community service includes being a Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Council. His past community service includes serving on the City of Scranton’s Zoning Hearing Board, School Board, and City Council. Mr. Hazzouri is a graduate of Lemoyne College, Penn State University, and Marywood University. He resides in Scranton with his wife Mary and their two children.
Mr. Kearney has been in the hotel business for over 20 years, currently overseeing the beautiful historic Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in downtown Scranton. His career in the hospitality industry started in 1986 and has taken him through lengthy careers at both The Inn at Nichols Village in Clarks Summit and Fernwood Hotel and Resort in the Poconos.
Today, along with operating the historic property at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, he is also currently operating Nexus Hospitality Management’s most recent venture – The Wyndham Indianapolis West in Indianapolis, Ind. Kearney is a graduate of the University of Scranton.
Atty. Munley is a partner practicing law with Munley Law in Scranton. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Lackawanna County Bar Association, Luzerne County Law and Library Association, and Federal Bar Association.
She is active in organizations across Northeastern Pennsylvania, including but not limited to the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries, President of the Board of Directors at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lackawanna Valley Heritage Authority, and countless other community leadership roles, as well as her professional associations. She is a graduate of Marywood University and the Dickinson School of Law. She and her husband Attorney Patrick M. Rogan reside in Clarks Summit.
