Falcons adding women’s tennis to roster of sponsored sports

The Lackawanna College Athletic Department announced today that it will add a women’s tennis program to its sports offerings beginning with the Fall 2014 semester. The team will be participating as a NJCAA Division I program which will allow Lackawanna to offer scholarships to prospective members.

This new program will be the only Division I program in Region XIX. Presently, nine other Region schools have Division III programs. Those programs are Bergen Community College, Brookdale Community College, Bucks County Community College, Community College of Philadelphia, Gloucester County College, Mercer County Community College, Northampton Community College, Ocean County College, and Valley Forge Military College.

The Falcons have already arranged to play their home matches at the Scranton Tennis Club, located at 1029 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, Pa.

Anyone interested in this program may contact Lackawanna College Athletic Director Kim Mecca at (570) 961-0700.
