    $10,000 Scranton Area Foundation grant aids Lackawanna College

    Lackawanna College has received a $10,000 Community Needs Grant from the Scranton Area Foundation in support of the Empowerment through Education Program. Working in conjunction with Mary Mother of God Parish and other local churches, the College will provide college and employment preparation programs from 3-6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from September through February.

    The classes will include homework assistance; literacy programs; college preparation including Accuplacer and SAT/ACT prep; college financial aid and FAFSA assistance; scholarship search and college planning information; GED prep; job search assistance; and more.

    The Empowerment through Education program is designed to prepare economically disadvantaged youth with the opportunities obtain a post-secondary education and the skills they need to enter the workforce.
