The 2008 Lackawanna College Men's Golf team, coming of their best season ever will be looking to fill the voids left by four graduating starters. The 2008 team is looking to again be among the top teams in NJCAA Region 19.

The team returns two starters from last season, Mountain View High School's Rhett Butler and Mike Sokolosky of Pittston Area High School.

The team will be looking for contributions from its group of incoming freshman golfers; West Scranton High School's Matt Amos, North Pocono High School's Ed Schewen, and Scranton High School's Nick Georgetti.

Two transfer students should also be in the starting mix, they include Abington Height's High School's Dan Hamilton and Riverside High School graduate Scott Sklanka.

Men's head golf coach Patrick Lloyd said "having four of the top ten players in the region graduate from your program hurts; but we have a good mix of returning golfers with experience, and some solid freshmen who should make an immediate impact." Coach Lloyd is back for his second season with the Falcons golf team. Brian Fruehan, assistant PGA Golf Professional at Fox Hill C.C., will be returning for his second season as assistant golf coach and swing coach.

In 2007 the Falcons were 50-3-1 capturing the PA-Delaware Cup and finishing 14th in the country at NJCAA Division II nationals. Lackawanna College will begin their season in Pinehurst, N.C. before it first Region 19 GSAC tournament on April 1st at Deerwood Country Club, Westampton N.J.
