    White Apron Academy

    Adult Cooking Classes
    & Kids’ Summer Camps

    Learn to make impressive meals for your friends and family with adult cooking classes offered at Lackawanna College through the Lackwanna College White Apron Academy.

    Lackawanna’s professional chef instructors will walk learners of all skill levels through the cooking process in a fun, relaxed environment.

    Along with learning how to cook a meal from scratch, chef instructors will provide trade secrets to food and wine pairing. All classes are BYOB and a wine pairing suggestion will be offered for each class.

    Adult cooking classes are non-credit and open to the community.

    Classes will be held at the Lackawanna College Healey Hall kitchen lab, 415 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.

    Adult Cooking Classes 2018 Schedule

    Thursday, June 7

    Couple’s Cooking Class: Bistro Fare
    6-9 p.m.  |  $85 per person
    Includes 3-hour instruction and recipe packet for menu.

    You and your partner(s) will be able to enjoy time in the kitchen learning how to create a fresh three-course meal for date night from scratch! This course focuses on bistro-inspired classic dishes.

    Suggested BYOB Wine Pairing: Chardonnay, Champagne, Cabernet Sauvignon, California Syrah

    Around the World Series: Asian Takeout
    6-9 p.m.  |  $80 per person
    Includes 3-hour instruction and recipe packet for menu.

    Grab your friends and join us for a trip around the globe. In our Around the World series, you’ll make delicious meals from scratch using each culture’s traditional ingredients. Leave your takeout menu at home this June and enjoy beloved Chinese dishes with a twist! Lackawanna’s Chef Instructor will discuss the art of pairing wines with different types of dishes.

    Back to Basics Series: Farmer’s Market
    10 a.m.-1 p.m.  |  $65 per person
    Includes 3-hour instruction and recipe packet for menu.

    In this Back-to-Basics Series, we will explore the favorite items found at the Farmers Market. Seasonality is key and will be showcased in this course as you learn to make some of our favorite summer dishes, using ingredients at their peak flavor! We will make classic summer salads, as well as jams and jellies, and a few types of pickled items using quick pickle recipes.

    Baking Series: Baking Basics
    9 a.m.-12 p.m.  |  $70 per person
    Includes 3-hour instruction and recipe packet for menu.

    In this Baking Basics Class  we will discuss the fundamentals of baking and create recipes using fresh summer ingredients and sweet doughs. Coffee and tea will be served.

    Girls Night Out Series: Summer Fun
    6-9 p.m.  |  $80 per person
    Includes 3-hour instruction and recipe packet for menu.

    Grab your girlfriends and join us for a Girls Night Out –IN! We will create fun and delicious light fare and cocktails that you can re-create at home for your next girls night or cocktail party!

    Around the World Series:“Mexican Fiesta”

    Grab your friends and join us for a trip around the globe! In this Around the World Series, we will be having a Mexican Fiesta! In this class we will make your Mexican favorites using traditional ingredients.

    Baking Camp
    Session 1: July 9-13

    Baking Camp: Session 1

    For ages 7+  |  9 a.m.- 1 p.m.  | $200 per child.
    Includes 4 hours of instruction per day, chef hats, aprons, and recipe packets.

    These camps teach the fundamentals of baking and how to make kids’ favorite sweet recipes from scratch. Campers will learn how to stay safe in the kitchen as they discover a variety of baking techniques and styles.

    Session 2: August 6-10

    Baking Camp: Session 2

    For ages 7+  |  9 a.m.- 1 p.m.  | $200 per child.
    Includes 4 hours of instruction per day, chef hats, aprons, and recipe packets.

    These camps teach the fundamentals of baking and how to make kids’ favorite sweet recipes from scratch. Campers will learn how to stay safe in the kitchen as they discover a variety of baking techniques and styles.

    Culinary Camp

    For ages 7+  |  9 a.m.- 1 p.m.  | $200 per child.
    Includes 4 hours of instruction per day, chef hats, aprons, and recipe packets.

    Kids’ Culinary Camps teach the fundamentals of cooking and how to make their favorite recipes. Kids will learn safe techniques in the kitchen including proper knife skills and discover all the tools of the kitchen learn a variety of cooking styles.

    Session 2: July 23-27

    For ages 7+  |  9 a.m.- 1 p.m.  | $200 per child.
    Includes 4 hours of instruction per day, chef hats, aprons, and recipe packets.
