    The Lake Region Center is located at 8 Silk Mill Drive in Hawley, Pa., 18428.

    Lackawanna College’s Lake Region Center provides educational opportunities for residents in Wayne and Pike counties.

    The state-of-the-art academic center in the historic Silk Mill in Hawley provides business and industry training and continuing education courses along with traditional degree and certificate programs.

    Students have the option to complete many of their degree requirements at the Lake Region Center.

    Job Training

    Nurse Aide Training

    Classes run Monday-Thursday, 4:30-8:30 p.m.

    The Lackawanna College Nurse Aide Training program is a 172-hour program with hands-on, clinical experience under the supervision and direction of Registered Nurses who are experienced in long-term care. The program is accredited by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education for 140 hours, which includes 96 hours of classroom and laboratory training and 44 clinical hours in a long-term care facility. It also includes 32 additional specialized hours that includes training in CPR and practice laboratory hours to prepare students to take the American Red Cross Competency Examination.

    Office Technology Training

    Classes run Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

    Students in this certificate program receive 210 hours of instruction in Microsoft Office 2013 suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Business Communications, Accounting, and Quick Books. This program gives students the knowledge and understanding of office technology and prepares them to enter or reenter the workforce with marketable skills that can be used in a multitude of employment opportunities.

    Real Estate Program

    Classes run Monday and Tuesday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

    The Lake Region Center offers a 60-hour Real Estate Program that prepares students to take the Real Estate Licensing exam. Students will receive instruction in Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practices. Both classes are needed in order to sit for the exam.

    June 22-26

    American Girl

    Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, Grades 1-4. Cost: $75

    Sign up with your friends and bring your doll for a week of girly fun. Girls will be painting nails and getting all dolled up with matching tutus and bracelets for you and your doll. No messy activities will be done while dolls are close by.

    Beading camp

    Monday-Friday, noon-3 p.m., Grades 1-4. Cost: $75

    Dinosaur Days

    Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, Grades 1-4. Cost: $75

    Learn more about some of the dinosaurs that ruled and roamed the earth millions of years ago. Create prehistoric art projects, build a replica of a dinosaur, and spark your imagination through dinosaur stories, songs, games and many other Dino-mite activities.

    Magic School Bus

    Monday-Friday, noon-3 p.m., Grades 1-4. Cost: $75

    Board the bus and join Ms. Frizzle’s class while they venture out to explore and end up having wacky, science-filled adventures! Experiments, projects, and videos are used to explore the Magic School Bus books and bring them to life.
