The New Milford Center is Lackawanna College’s newest addition. Now situated in its new facility just off the Gibson exit off I-81 (Susquehanna County). Being almost exactly half way between Scranton, PA and Binghamton, NY, the New Milford Center provides a wonderful alternative to students not able to travel out of the area.

The New Milford Center was opened in March of 2007 when Director Ryan Stalker and Assistant Director Jennifer Fifth established a small storefront office on Main Street. Today the Center is thriving, offering six full Associate’s Degree programs and servicing nearly 100 students, nearly all of whom reside in Susquehanna County. The new facility contains classrooms, computer labs and a gas technology lab.

The six Associate’s Degree programs currently offered at the New Milford Center are: Business Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Early Childhood Education, Education, and Natural Gas Technology (NGT). The New Milford Center also offers all of the general education classes required to graduate with any of Lackawanna’s 30 Associate’s Degrees, giving local students a springboard to other degree programs with Lackawanna, as well as with other colleges and universities.

In addition to degree class offerings, the New Milford Center has a variety of Continuing Education programs available to local students. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Administrative Professional, Basic Computer Skills, Entrepreneurship and other certificate programs offer wonderful alternatives for individuals interested in obtaining new skills or sharpening old ones, without the time and financial requirement involved in earning a full Associate’s Degree.

With the recent increase in natural gas production in Susquehanna County, the New Milford Center has created a degree in Natural Gas Technology. The goal of this degree is to train individuals to move into supervisory and business roles within the natural gas industry. This new degree program began in the Fall Semester of 2009 and local, as well as nationally recognized members of the gas industry have shown support for the New Milford center through funding as well as internship opportunities.

The New Milford Center has also expanded its staff to include a Director NGT, a Director of Energy Programs, an Electronics & Pneumatics Lab Manager, a Business/Economics Specialist and an IT Specialist. The staff is excited about the future prospects in Susquehanna County in serving the needs of individuals, local businesses and organizations.

Remember: “Tomorrow Starts Here” at the Lackawanna College New Milford Center.
