Ecological Educator: Sharon Yanik-Craig

           Naturalist and educator Sharon Yanik-Craig came on board in July of 2008 as the Lackawanna College Environmental Institutes new Ecological Educator.  She earned a bachelor's degree in park management and environmental interpretation from The Pennsylvania State University and received her master's degree in ecological education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.
           Sharon has worked as a Park Naturalist for the Township of Plainsboro in Plainsboro, NJ and as the Director of Interpretive Programs for the Everhart Museum in Scranton.  She has also held environmental education  positions at the New Jersey Audubon Society and the Pocono  Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, PA.
           Sharon sits on the Lackawanna River Corridor Association board of directors and loves exploring the natural world and sharing her passion with others.   She resides in Scranton, PA and when she isn’t teaching she enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, and cooking!

Sustainability Coordinator & Education Assistant: Michelle Wheeler

           Michelle Wheeler is a graduate of Lackawanna College and completed her B.S. at Keystone College in Environmental Resource Management.   Michelle has assisted the Institute throughout the years, first as an intern helping with day camp, then as an AmeriCorps Volunteer.  As Sustainability Coordinator and Education Assistant, Michelle assists the college with its commitment to the environment by aligning the college’s actions closer towards its mission by helping to make the college more ecologically sustainable.   Michelle enjoys hiking, swimming and cooking and resides in Sterling, PA.
